Our dad wasn’t just a father to us. He was our rock and hero. We looked up to him not just because of his strength, but because of his kindness and the way he treated others. He always taught us to be kind and treat people with respect this carried on through to his grandchildren. These words have shaped who we are, and we’ll carry them with for the rest of our lives. He had our backs growing up. If we had a problem or worry we knew he'd help and try sort it out.
Our dad was the kind of person who could light up a room with his presence. His laugh was contagious, his smile was warm, and his heart was big enough to hold everyone he cared about. He had this way of making everyone feel special, whether it was through his words of encouragement or just his ability to listen and truly hear you.
Michelle - Some of my fondest memories of my Dad taking me to my gymnastics displays, him singing along to his favourite music on a Sunday morning and him walking me down the aisle at my wedding. These moments were filled with love, laughter, and a sense of togetherness that will stay with me forever. I will miss our cups of tea, Sainsburys doughnuts and putting the world to rights.
Myles - When I did my work experience I went to London with him to work for 2 weeks and I felt a little bit out of my depth. I had to sign the Official Secrets Act to work there apparently but turns out it was a wind up but I know he did it to make me feel included and that was dad through and through.
Considering our dads job insuring race horses he wasn't the best at picking a winner with the bookies. There was a little running joke in our family that 9 times out of ten when he placed a bet he'd lose but when he picked a horse but didn't place a bet nine times out of 10 it would win.
The past few months have been tough but we have spent more time with you which has been precious, you still brought humour and compassion when we spoke and most of all a smile.
This is not goodbye but rest easy until we meet again ❤️💙❤️💙

I found a poem that reminds me of you -
Grandad kept a garden,
A garden of the heart;
He planted all the good things,
That gave our lives their start.
He turned us to the sunshine,
And encouraged us to dream:
Fostering and nurturing
The seeds of self-esteem.
And when the winds and rain came,
He protected us enough—
But not too much because he knew
We'd need to stand up strong and tough.
His constant good example
Always taught us right from wrong—
Markers for our pathway
That will last a lifetime long.
We are our Grandad's garden,
We are his legacy.
And I hope today he feels the love
Reflected back from me.
We all miss you so much, and you leave a void in our hearts that I don't think will ever be filled. Thank you for everything you've done for me, from teaching me how ride my bike, to walking me down the aisle, you never failed to make me laugh. Even until the end. I love you so much, and miss you more xxxxx

My wonderful dad. Where do I start you weren't just my dad but my role model, a true gentleman with a big heart and had a wonderful sense of humour that continued until the end. You were/are a brilliant grandad your grandchildren have so many happy memories with you. You taught them to be kind and treat people with respect, for that I'm forever grateful. I love and miss you so much, I wasn't ready for you to leave but it's not goodbye xxxxxx
